yendi “songbird” Unleashed
Music has always been more than a performance for Yendi Songbird—it is the language through which she tells stories, bridges cultures, and creates unforgettable moments.
Born in Manhattan, New York, and proudly rooted in her Jamaican heritage, Yendi discovered her calling at an early age. Inspired by the timeless artistry of Bob Marley, Whitney Houston, and Michael Jackson, she began formal performing arts training at just six years old, laying the foundation for a career defined by versatility, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
At only fifteen, Yendi signed her first recording contract with Priority Records as a member of the R&B group 1-305, where she worked alongside acclaimed singer and producer James DeBarge. While the group's journey was short-lived, the experience ignited a lifelong pursuit of artistic growth. Balancing her passion for music with higher education, she earned an Associate of Arts degree in Broadcasting from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, strengthening both her creative voice and professional foundation.
Over the years, Yendi has quietly become one of South Florida's most respected live vocalists. Her career has taken her from intimate stages to luxury venues, corporate events, festivals, and concert halls, earning her a reputation for delivering performances that are as emotionally compelling as they are technically refined. Equally at home interpreting timeless classics or contemporary hits, she moves effortlessly across Pop, R&B, Soul, Reggae, Jazz, Blues, and Hip Hop, making every performance uniquely her own.
Her artistry has led to collaborations with internationally recognized performers, including Ky-Mani Marley and Singing Melody, while also working alongside multi-platinum Grammy Award-winning producers, songwriters, and creatives, including Mannie Fresh and Derek "Bigg D" Baker. These collaborations have shaped an artist whose greatest strength lies not only in her vocal ability, but in her adaptability and authenticity.
Most recently, Yendi stepped into the symphonic world as a featured soloist with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and Judah Tribe in a celebrated production honoring the music and legacy of Bob Marley. The performance reflected the full breadth of her artistry—blending orchestral sophistication with the soul and spirit of reggae in a way that resonated deeply with audiences.
Beyond the stage, Yendi continues to evolve as an independent recording artist, releasing original music that reflects her personal journey and artistic vision. Her catalog, including the single Love Chant featuring Paul Anthony, demonstrates her commitment to creating music that inspires connection, healing, and celebration.
Whether commanding the stage before thousands or delivering an intimate performance that feels deeply personal, Yendi Songbird brings the same purpose to every audience: to leave people feeling something long after the final note has faded. With a career built on authenticity, versatility, and passion, she continues to establish herself as a compelling voice whose story is still unfolding.
